As all keen gardeners know, the arrival of autumn means it’s time to get our Community Garden ready for the long winter to ensure it flourishes again next year – from weeding to planting new bulbs, there are lots of jobs to be done. And so, when we were approached by the HR team at Veolia asking if they could spend a day with us, we said a very big yes.
Veolia, based in Cannock, are experts in waste, water and energy solutions and are dedicated to achieving a circular economy for future generations. They recently announced Shelter as their new charity partner and are keen to support any local projects or initiatives with links to housing or homelessness – House of Bread, therefore, was a perfect match.
Thanks to a group of Veolia’s employees who very kindly joined our team last month our garden can now settle into winter. They gave our Community Garden a much needed tidy. From weeding, clearing fallen leaves and repair work to planting new bulbs, the volunteers worked hard to ensure the garden is ready for the long winter months to come.
We love these partnerships between like-minded groups, all working together to make a difference to the lives of others. We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the Veolia employees who gave up their time to help us. We’d love you to come back in the Spring and see the fruits of your hard work.
