Paramedics are often the first professionals to arrive at the scene of an accident or medical emergency, providing fast, life-saving treatment and bringing a sense of calm to an otherwise stressful situation.
Increasingly, they are being trained to work closely with vulnerable people, some of whom can be resistant to receiving help in times of an emergency. At House of Bread, we are delighted to be welcoming paramedic trainees to Café 43 to spend quality time with some of the most vulnerable people in our community. Trainees spend a week at House of Bread getting involved in all our activities, from Crafty Hands to working in the kitchen or doing a shift at our warehouse. This valuable time gives the trainees an insight into the lives and concerns of some of our friends, and it is hoped that this understanding will make them better equipped to treat vulnerable people in medical emergencies.
It’s another initiative that we at House of Bread love – collaborating with other service providers to improve the lives of vulnerable and homeless people in Stafford.
